Surgery for weight loss is known as bariatric surgery. It has been proven to be an extremely safe and effective treatment for morbid obesity and its related diseases. Comorbidities such as non-insulin dependent diabetes (type 2 diabetes), hypertension, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, fatty liver disease and among dozens of other diseases, can be improved or even cured after bariatric surgery.

Generally, you can qualify if you have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more, with or without obesity related comorbidities, or a BMI of 35 with an obesity related comorbidity.
